About Us
Established in Sept 15, 1959 in protest of Stanvac’s imposition of gas station rentals, a group of Stanvac dealers formed the Stanvac Dealers’ Association.. Consistent with the change in name of our mother company from Stanvac to Esso to Petrophil , it is now known as the  Petron Dealers’ Association.

THE REASON FOR PETDA’S EXISTENCE
The purposes (as stated in PETDA’s Articles of Incorporation) can be reduced to the following basic functions:
- To promote, advance, safeguard and protect the commercial, economic and social well-being and the general welfare of all its members
- To foster and forge a strong spirit of cooperation and unity among its members, that the Association may become a strong and effective representative body that can serve and protect its members
- To foster and promote a close and cooperative business relationship among the members and Petron Corporation for their mutual benefit under the principle of justice and equity
- To seek, promote and encourage unity and cooperation with dealers of other oil companies for a united and more effective effort to improve the general welfare of all  dealers in the entire Philippines
A. Commercial and Economic Well-being of members
- To bring to the attention of Petron Corporation officials the need to improve the viability of financial and managerial operations of dealers
- To develop businesses that will improve viability of dealers
B.  Improved Unity and Cooperation among members
- To strengthen PETDA organizationally through establishment of provincial and regional chapters/appointment of Area coordinators.
- To undertake activities that will foster camaraderie among members and become a more cohesive dealers’ organization.
- To enhance communication facilities between PETDA officers and its members.
C.  National and Local Legislation/other developments affecting our business
- To participate actively in the legislative process in the national and local levels
- To assist members resolve problems at the local levels
- To monitor external influences on PETDA and dealer operations and disseminate to all concerned.
D. Financial  Stability
- To improve the financial stability of PETDA
Over the next two years, we shall focus attention on improving the financial profitability of dealers : first, continuing pressure on our mother company to grant us margins which will allow us to pay mimimum wages to our employees so that we are able to pursue our search for service excellence; second, to assist our dealers in improving sales volumes , thus increasing gross revenues, by making available to them best practices they can use as models and third, working out measures to reduce operating costs.
- To use the dealer network as a means to provide  business opportunities to dealers
- To coordinate and work closely with Petron Corporation to develop businesses that will improve viability of dealers
- To follow up with SSE group re the M & R commitments of WRR and Rene Abundo
PETDA needs frequent communication with dealers. We shall continue to release our PETDA Newsdepot quarterly. . Establish system to ensure majority of dealers receive our Newsdepot and Communications . Development of a website for continuing information dissemination.
Our organization must be strengthened down to the Provincial and Regional level. If we can foster and forge a strong spirit of cooperation and unity among our members, the Association may become a strong and effective representative body that can better protect our business interests:
The 2007 convention is a good starting point. A majority of dealers will be present to listen to  Petron’s plans  to ensure Petron dealers keep pace with competition. It is also a good time to discuss with dealers re the continued existence of the Association.  PETDA is an acronym for PETRON DEALERS’ ASSOCIATION. It is an association of dealers-it is not the PETDA Board. Let us not end up in the same manner as the Philippine election system. where we see the same people year after year. We have a term limit of 3 years.  The second and third terms should be periods for training replacements.
Financial Stability
Share of local chapters in membership dues so that they collect dues from members Advance payment of dues  for the contract period during contract execution or renewal New Member’s Welcome Kit-Benefits of being members- Health plans, Fleet prices for vehicle purchase.
Other issues:
Work with local wage boards for a separate classification for dealers
There is talk of a legislated wage increase. We should  be able to exert pressure on our congressmen to consider legislating a COLA rather than a wage increase. Also, we should be able to work on  the regional wage boards to put up a separate classification for gas station dealers . The retail classification of less than 10 employees does not apply to those of us who operate on 24 hr basis. We shouldn’t be put in the same class as the non-agricultural sector which covers big companies like Petron, PLDT and San Miguel.

Focus on eliminating unfair competition.
New players have put up small stations lacking in safety and environmental protection devises. Due to the Oil Deregulation Law, new players have proliferated and there is no rationale in putting up stations. The DOE has promulgated implementing rules and regulations on the operation of gasoline stations, but has not been enforced. They have attempted to coordinate with local government units for implementation prior to their giving permits to operate.
